Skin Rejuvenation

Chemical peels have been used for decades to create an even and controlled shedding of damaged skin cells. Each year thousands of these treatments are performed in the United States. Chemical peels work well for both men and women, at any age and are the ideal treatment for anyone who wants to restore a more youthful, healthy glow to their skin. A chemical peel improves the appearance of the skin on the face, neck, or hands by applying a chemical solution to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun.

There are 3 basic types of chemical peels:

Superficial Peel:  Our Lactic Peel highlights an alpha-hydroxy solution with no toxicity and is used to penetrate only the outer layer of skin to gently exfoliate it. The treatment is used to improve the appearance of mild skin discoloration and rough skin as well as to refresh the face, neck, chest or hands.

Medium Peel: Our Jessner's Peel, is a stronger peel than a glycolic or lactic peel. It works by combining salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol acid. It is thought to break intracellular bridges between keratinocytes (the epithelial cells) allowing more peeling. The treatment is used to improve age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and moderate skin discoloration. It also can be used to smooth rough skin and treat some precancerous skin growths, i.e. actinic keratosis.

Deep Peel: Our Frost Peel, which uses Tricholoracetic acid, is applied to deeply penetrate the middle layer of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment removes moderate lines, age spots, freckles and shallow scars. Patients will see a dramatic improvement in skin appearance.

A chemical peel is one of the least invasive ways to improve the appearance of your skin. Sun exposure, acne, or just getting older can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or scarred. Peels can help with:

• Acne or acne scars
• Age and liver spots
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Freckles

• Irregular skin pigmentation
• Rough skin and scaly patches
• Scars
• Sun-damaged skin

The youth-prolonging results of chemical peels can be significantly enhanced by combining peels with other skin treatments such as Facials or Photorejuvenation
